Wood-burning stoves

Wood-burning fireplaces are tried-and-tested solutions for heating rooms using wood as a natural fuel. These appliances combine heating with a panoramic view of the fire, and thanks to the variety of models available, they can be adapted to many different types of interiors and the technical specifications of the building. Our range includes both classic freestanding stoves and modern heating fireplaces with increased efficiency and advanced combustion systems.

Wood-burning stoves – efficient and eco-friendly home heating

Modern wood-burning stoves are efficient heating appliances that combine the function of heating with the aesthetics of a traditional fireplace. They are designed to burn wood efficiently and make the most of the heat energy, distributing it evenly and comfortably throughout the home. Contemporary models meet the stringent Ecodesign standards, which means low flue gas emissions, high energy efficiency and more environmentally friendly combustion.

Thanks to modern technological solutions, wood-burning stoves can serve not only a decorative purpose but also act as an effective source of heating for the entire home. High heating output and efficient heat distribution systems allow several rooms to be heated simultaneously, and in the case of certain models, they can also be integrated with a central heating system. This makes wood-burning stoves ideal for both smaller flats and large detached houses.

What sets modern wood-burning stoves apart?

Modern wood-burning stoves differ from older designs primarily in their combustion method and the technical solutions employed. Contemporary models are fitted with combustion chamber air supply systems, which improve control over the combustion process and ensure more stable operation of the appliance. Another key design feature is the sophisticated combustion chamber, lined with heat-retaining materials, which improves energy efficiency and ensures a more even distribution of heat throughout the room. Many models also incorporate flue gas flow control systems, which extend the flue gas path and enhance the appliance’s heating efficiency.

Installation requirements for freestanding wood-burning fireplaces

Freestanding wood-burning fireplaces, often referred to as wood-burning stoves or ‘wood-burning heaters’, are appliances that do not require built-in installation and can be installed directly in a room when connected to a flue system. Their design allows for rapid heat transfer, making them an effective source of heating in living areas.

An important aspect of installing wood-burning fireplaces is ensuring an adequate supply of combustion air, particularly in modern, airtight buildings. In many cases, it is recommended to use an external air intake, which improves the stability of the appliance’s operation and user comfort. It is also essential to prepare the base for the stove correctly. It should be non-flammable, stable and heat-resistant, which ensures safety during use. Appropriate distances from walls and flammable materials must also be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Compatibility with the existing flue system is also crucial for the correct operation of a wood-burning stove. The flue should have adequate draught and a diameter suited to the stove’s specifications, as this affects combustion efficiency and ensures trouble-free operation of the appliance.

How do you choose the right wood-burning fireplace?

Choosing the right wood-burning stove depends primarily on several key factors relating to both the appliance’s technical specifications and the conditions within the building. Selecting the right model ensures stable and efficient operation of the appliance, as well as everyday comfort.

When making your choice, it is worth considering, first and foremost:

• the appliance’s heat output, suited to the room’s floor area,
• the type of building and its thermal insulation, which affects the heat demand,
• the possibility of connecting to a flue and its technical specifications,
• frequency of use, i.e. whether the fireplace is to be the main or an additional source of heat,
• the type of appliance construction (steel or cast iron), which affects the way heat is transferred,
• combustion control systems, which allow you to regulate the appliance’s output,
• additional features, including the ability to heat domestic hot water (water-jacketed fireplaces).

The space in which the fireplace is to be installed is also of significant importance. In smaller rooms, compact units that heat up more quickly are more suitable, whilst in larger living areas, models with higher output and a larger combustion chamber can be used. In practice, a well-chosen wood-burning fireplace should strike a balance between efficiency and user comfort, taking into account both the technical conditions of the building and the user’s individual needs.
